The Department of Communication at the University of Haifa was founded in 1994. Over the last two decades, it has become abundantly clear that communication is not simply an object for consumption or research, but rather an activity that engages us continuously. We have become, once again, “content producers” in addition to consumers and audience members. The Department of Communication researches the meanings and the effects of these activities in an age of evolving technologies and cultures, with the aim of understanding these phenomena and processes in order to provide students with critical and practical tools that they can use in the world. The department faculty members conduct cutting edge research locally and globally that is reflected in their teaching. The department’s B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. graduates work in diverse fields of media and related fields, in the public, private and non-profit sectors.
