    תחומי עניין: תיווך תרבותי של תכנים ושל טכנולוגיות תקשורת: הבניית זהות מגדרית ופוליטית באמצעות אמצעי תקשורת, אימוץ של טכנולוגיות (מחשבים, טלפונים) בהקשרים תרבותיים (משפחה, קיבוץ), וסוגיות של פרטיות וסכנות אינטרנט אחרות מזווית בין-תרבותית; תיאוריות פמיניסטיות, טכנולוגיות, והתפתחותיות; הוראת תקשורת.

    רבקה ריבק למדה לתואר ראשון בפסיכולוגיה ותולדות האמנות באוניברסיטת חיפה, לתואר שני בתקשורת באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים, ולדוקטורט בתקשורת באוניברסיטת קליפורניה בסן-דיאגו. מחקריה עוסקים במשמעויות שאנשים מייחסים לתכנים ולטכנולוגיות תקשורת. ריבק פרסמה בשנים האחרונות מאמרים על אימוץ והמנעות מאימוץ של טכנולוגיות תקשורת בקהילות שונות, ועל תפיסות של פרטיות בקרב משתמשים ומפתחים. לאחרונה הנחתה עבודות בנושא המאגר הביומטרי, דיגיטציה של ארכיונים, צילומי חתונה ולידה, ושימוש בסמארטפון בקרב משפחות מוסלמיות דתיות.
