מְתַקְשְרִים: הכנס ה-10  לתלמידי מחקר בתקשורת ע"ש מארק ביאנו

הכנס (כרזה ותוכנית הכנס, תקצירים, אירוע בפייסבוק) נערך זו השנה העשירית, ונועד לתת במה לתלמידי המחקר בתקשורת ולעבודותיהם. תכליתו לטפח רשת של חוקרי תקשורת צעירים, תלמידי תואר שני ושלישי, לספק להם תנאים מיטביים לדיון בעבודותיהם ולהזמין אותם לקחת חלק משמעותי בשיח המחקרי התקשורתי בישראל. השנה הרצה פרופ' לאנס הולברט מאוניברסיטת דרום קרוליינה במסגרת הכנס. בכנס הוצגו עבודות אשר מאירות זוויות שונות של התקשורת תוך מתן ביטוי למגוון מסורות תיאורטיות ומתודולוגיות. כנס תלמידי המחקר מוקדש לזכרו של מארק ביאנו ז"ל, סטודנט מחקר מצטיין בחוג לתקשורת, מתרגל אהוב בחוג וכתב ב"חדשות חיפה בכבלים". מארק נרצח בפיגוע במסעדת מקסים באוקטובר 2003 יחד עם אשתו, נעמי.

כותרת הרצאתו של פרופ' הולברט היא: Political Satire and the Production of Democratic Outcomes

תקציר:

Political satire is a diverse, multi-faceted form of political discourse that is evident in the media systems of democratic societies across the globe. Its diversity has led many to argue that it is impossible to put forward a proper definition that encompasses all of its many types, and all extant definitions have been met with much criticism.  This area of research needs a well-formulated definition of political satire and a definition of this unwieldy communicative act will be presented.  Once a definition of political satire is put forward, a theoretical model will be outlined detailing the macro-social dynamics and conditions from which political satire can gain the power needed to influence democratic processes and outcomes.  A model of this kind is necessary in order to aid recent theoretical and empirical advancements made on political satire influence at the individual-level of analysis and to pull this area of research out of and away from the important, but limited insights generated from outlet-specific studies. 

 ביוגרפיה:

R. Lance Holbert (PhD, University of Wisconsin-Madison, 2000) is Professor and Associate Director for Graduate Studies and Research at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of South Carolina.  He currently serves on eleven editorial boards, including Associate Editor for Journal of Communication. He has served as Chair of the Mass Communication and Political Communication Divisions of the National Communication Association and will be assuming this same role for the Mass Communication Division of the International Communication Association at the May 2014 Seattle meeting. He has (co-)authored more than 60 peer-reviewed journal articles, two books, and a dozen book chapters. He is also the most recent recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award presented by the National Communication Association’s Mass Communication Division.
